What makes The Leftovers so engrossing is not merely its ability to justify why one character is alive or explain why another would abandoned her family. It's strength is found in its exploration of very different, yet equally broken, souls as they connect in the midst of an often unexplainable world... being forced to acknowledge that as real as those mysteries are, so too is their ability to connect with those around them... and that they are not so different from their fellow travelers in this cosmic drama called life.
